Marilyn Ann Merida, 71, of Cambridge City, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 7, 2018 after a long struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Marilyn was born on September 11, 1946 in Connersville to Virgil and Lucille Ammerman Bowne. She was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School. She married the love of her life, Rudy Merida on August 8, 1967. She assisted her husband in his business, “Rudy’s Auto Sales” for many years. Marilyn worked for Dr. Jim Johnson for ten years as a L.P.N. When Dr. Johnson moved to Columbus, IN, she pursued her nursing career and received her R.N. degree. She then was employed by Reid Hospital for a total of twenty years. Marilyn found joy in nursing and making a difference in the lives of others. She attended Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for seven years with Rudy. Marilyn was involved in numerous Bible study groups and was a member of Cambridge City Christian Church. She enjoyed helping out with the children’s programs and worked in the church office for a short time. Marilyn found her most happiness being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and going out to eat whenever the occasion would arise.

Survivors include her children, Lee Ann (Rob) Bohlander and Derek (Nanette) Merida; grandchildren, Nick (Brittany Martin) Bohlander, Heath and Ross Bohlander, Austin, Kailey, Kiersten and Rachel Merida, Wesley (Courtney Harris) Merida II and Heather Isaacs; great-grandchildren Olivia and Elaina Merida, and Gabriella Shock; a sister, Carmen (Dick) Fritzsche: a brother, Don Bowne; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Lucille Bowne; her husband, Rudy Merida; a son, Wesley Merida; a brother, Chuck Bowne and sister-in-law, Shelba Bowne.

A special thank you to family and friends for always being there, Julie and John Dershem, Jean Merida, Tonna Lear, Sandy Rigsby, Randall and Joyce Merida.

A very special thank you to Pat Waskom for opening up her home to Marilyn in her last months.

Friends may call at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel, 1010 E. Main St., Cambridge City on Wednesday from 10 AM until the start of the funeral at 1 PM. with Danny Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
