Norman S. Bond, 84, of Cambridge City, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. He was born in New Castle, on December 6, 1929 to Fred and Ruth (Bertsch) Bond.


Norman attended Purdue University for one year and then returned home to work on the family farm. He married Mildred Davenport, known as “Midge” on October 29, 1950. His life continued as he worked and retired from a family business at Bertsch & Company in Cambridge City. After retiring he began helping Midge at her dress shop, Harriet's in Richmond. They loved to go to Sanibel Island, Florida where they spent many wonderful years.


Survivors include his four children Kathy, Scott, Mark and Nancy; five grandchildren; eight, soon to be nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.


Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years, Midge and brother, Richard Wonsetler.


Visitation will be at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Sunday, June 29, 2014 between the hours of 1:00 until 4:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10:00 am at Waskom's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4567 Progress Dr., Columbus, IN 47201

I was saddened to learn of Norm's death. I enjoyed visiting with him last summer when I passed thru Cambridge. I always considered him a friend, and I will miss him. Dave

I have do many wonderful memories of Norman. He always had a smile for all of us while we were growing up and hanging out at The Bonds house. He was a great man and I felt lucky to have known him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. I can't help.but picture Norman and Midge sitting beside a beautiful pool sipping their favorite drinks. Sending much love your way.

My condolences to the family of Mr. N. Bond. He was a great friend to my father and I do remember the times he was at our house for the Poker Games and New Year's Eve parties. We all will miss him. May God give you the strength during this time of sadness.
