Wendell "Donnie" Steele

Wendell D. “Donnie” Steele, 60, of Cambridge City passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

He was born on October 6, 1959 in Fayette County, IN to James A. and Anita L. Golay Steele and had lived in Fayette and Wayne County most of his life. Donnie had been employed by Berline Construction for over 15 years and enjoyed camping at Manlove Park, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his companion of 29 years, Jean Collins; parents James A. and Anita L. Steele; children April (Brian) Hewitt, Jennifer (David) Southerland, Rusty (Angie) Collins, Mandy Steele, Melissa (Brian) DeArmond and Jacob Steele;

siblings Mike (Cindy) Steele, Steve (Lora) Steele and Darlene (Dallas) Lakes; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Annie Steele and nephew Jake Steele.

Friends may gather at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 9:30 am until start of services at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Little Children’s Home Church Cemetery in Franklin County.

Pastor Mark Crary will be officiating.
