Virginia Dockins (Dockins) Ford

Virginia Dockins Ford, of Advance, Indiana, died peacefully at sunrise on July 4^th, 2019. She was born August 20^th, 1931, in Augusta, Georgia, to Clayton M. Dockins and Eva G. Holder Dockins.

Virginia married Rev. Raymond G. Ford on June 4^th, 1955. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, followed by a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University. She worked as a secretary early in life, and then as a teacher and pastor’s wife at Baptist churches in Indiana, Ohio, Louisiana and Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, her children Gerald W. Ford (Marienne Kreitlow), Gregory Alan Ford (Mary Ellen Ford), Virginia Lynette Ford McNees (Kevin Shorney), and Lori Ford Fitzgerald (widow of Stephen Mitchell Ford, deceased.) Her grandchildren are Stefannie Clendenen, Paul Ford, Elizabeth McNees, Nicholas McNees, Benjamin McNees, Samuel McNees, Savannah Browning; three step-grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Mitchell Ford.

A visitation and viewing will be at 11:00 am and the funeral following at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 9^th 2019 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1610 South State Rd. 9. Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Private burial at Riverside Cemetery following the service.
