Ula Marie Ammerman House, 97, of Cambridge City, passed away on August 5, 2024 at Arbor Trace in Richmond. She was born on August 17, 1926 in Harrison township, Wayne County, Indiana on the Park Ammerman farm on the North Germantown Road. Her parents were Frank Park Ammerman and Ula Olive (Beeson) Ammerman.
Ula Marie Ammerman graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1944 and DePauw University in 1948 with a BA in Sociology and minors in Home Economics and Psychology. She married Robert E House from Preble County, Ohio on October 21, 1951 at Jacksonburg Christian Church. They had been married for 69 years when Bob passed away in 2020.
Ula Marie first worked as a Child Welfare Visitor with the Wayne County Department of Public Welfare in Richmond. She worked as a substitute teacher with the Nettle Creek School District for several years when her children were young and then was a Reading Teacher with Western Wayne Schools from 1977-1997. She was always a farm wife working with Bob and their herd of Shorthorn cattle at Wonder View Farm.
Ula Marie House was a very active member of the Jacksonburg Christian Church. She helped start the Harrison Farmers 4-H Club and was a 4-H leader. She was a member of the Harrison Township Extension Homemakers and Wayne County Farm Bureau. She was a great cook, seamstress, and gardener. She was an avid reader and always worked to try new things.
She is survived by 3 children, Maralee (Mike) Edmondson, Brian (Patty) House, and Nolan (Tami) House; 4 grandchildren, Lisa (John) Webber, Matthew (Stacie) Edmondson, Katie (Tommy) Beales, and Chad House; 6 great-grandchildren, Molly, John, Benjamin, James and Catherine Webber, and Twyla Beales; many nieces and nephews. Ula Marie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Voyle, Francis, and Calvin Ammerman and sister Olive Ammerman.
Friends may call from 10 AM until the start of the service at 1 PM on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Interment will follow at Jacksonburg Cemetery.
