Thomas R. Bertsch, 79, of Cambridge City, passed away on May 21, 2024 at his home. He was born in Richmond, IN on December 14, 1944 to Ray A. and Marian E. (Geise) Bertsch and lived in this area his entire life. Tom was a 1962 graduate of Milton High School and then was a lifelong farmer. He was devout in his faith and a member of Jacksonburg Christian Church. He lived his faith through serving others, by donating over ten gallons of blood, as a driver for Western Wayne Senior Center taking people to doctors appointments and at the Western Wayne Food Pantry. He was a member of the Western Wayne Young Farmers Club, enjoyed gardening and working on tractors & equipment. Tom was an avid Purdue Fan and enjoyed all sports. Mostly he enjoyed time with his family, going to his children and grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by three sons, Brian T. (Heather) Bertsch, Alan (Lisa) Bertsch and Heath (Laurel) Bertsch; four grandchildren, Shelby Bertsch, Elly (Randy Stolle) Bertsch, Olivia (Caleb) Mikesell and Alex Bertsch; three step grandchildren, Kinzee (Shawn) Warner, Colton (Natalie) Reed and Cutter Reed; great granddaughter, Riley Stolle; six step great grandchildren; two sisters, Diana Jo (Keith, deceased) Clawson and Janice Louise (Harold, deceased) Brook; his special companion, Ruth Miller; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy (Helmsing) Bertsch on October 25,2021 and his step son, Jason Daniel in 2016.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2024 and from 11:00 AM until the start of the funeral service at Noon on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City, IN. Burial will follow at Zions Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing, IN.
