Rodney Gaar Brower, 89, of Cambridge City, passed away on Wednesday August 13, 2025 at Reid Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1936 in Connersville to Campbell S. Brower and Aletha Evelyn Gaar Brower. He was a 1954 graduate of Straughn High School and then Graduated from The Ohio State University in 1958 With a Bachelors Degree in Horticulture & Biological Chemistry. After graduation he joined the family business, Brower-Gaar Nursery and retired having worked over 50 years.
Rodney was a member of First Presbyterian Church until it disbanded and was attending St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He was a 66 year member of Cambridge Lodge #5 F & AM, a 32 degree Mason in the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis and a 3 year member of SAR – Sons of the American Revolution.
Rodney is survived his wife, Tischa (Ratekin) Brower, who were joined in marriage on October 18, 1998; his daughters, Laurie (Frank) Brattain and Cheryl (Scott) Stackhouse; two step-children, Elizabeth Newkirk and Stuart (Mirosha) Newkirk; four grandchildren, Catherine (Zackary) Delisle, Kevin Brattain, Asher and Arya Newkirk; and a great-granddaughter, Juliette Delisle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sons, David and William Brower; sister, Aletha G. Foster and brother, Jim Brower.
Friends may call from on Wednesday August 20, 2025 from 4:30 PM until 7 PM and a Masonic Service will conducted at 5 PM, then on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the start of the funeral service at 11 AM at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
