Phyllis Worl Obituary

Phyllis M. Worl, 93, of Cambridge City passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond.

 

She was born May 6, 1923 in Park Ridge, IL to Roy and Jessie Todd Johnson and had lived most of her life in Cambidge City.

 

Phyllis was very active in Psi Iota Xi (past President), DAR, Cambridge City Library Board of Directors, curator of the library collection of Overbeck Sisters art and history and the Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir. Her interests included numerous plays in Richmond Civic Theater, Cambridge City Kiwanis Minstrel shows (many years as performer and director).

 

Survivors include her daughter, Diane T. (Warren) Fields and son, John David Worl; 3 grandchildren; W. Bradley (Christine) Fields, M.D., Rebecca (Wes) Garmon, PhD, Jonathon T. Fields; 4 great-grandchildren; Emily and Ethan Fields and Ryan and Benjamin Garmon; and special care giver and long time friend Bonnie Rose and her dog Teddy.

 

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years John R. Worl in 1981.

 

Friends may gather from 11:00 am until start of services at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Rev. Jerry Mielke will be officiating. Burial will follow in Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.

 

The family sends a special thank you to AseraCare Hospice and the nurses and staff at Friends Fellowhip.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Cambridge City Library.
