Pauline Druley Obituary

Pauline Beeson Kniese Druley, 105, of Milton, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond.

 

She was born on September 30, 1909 in Cambridge City to Dr. Charles and Alice May Beeson Kniese and had lived most of her life in the Milton area.

 

Pauline was a 1926 graduate of Lincoln High School, attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, TN and graduated from Earlham College in 1931. She then attended Washington School for Secretaries in Washington D.C. After school she worked as a private secretary for Public Service Commission, Earlham College, Pennsylvania Railroad and was the first woman secretary of Indiana State Senate in 1952. She had also taught school in Milton.

She was a member of Milton Christian Church.

 

Her social affiliations included current and former organizations, Hartley Hills Country Club, General Federation of Women's Clubs, Christian Women's Fellowship of Milton, Milton Christian Church, Earlham Alumni, Helen Hunt Club, Cary Club, Red Cross Board of Directors, and Psi Iota Xi .

 

Pauline's awards include Red Cross Service Award (60) years, Sagamore of the Wabash, and 2007 Milton Citizen of the year.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan M. Druley in 1998, whom she married on October 9, 1937; an infant son David Druley in 1945; and a sister Genevieve Chaudhuri.

 

Graveside services will be at Valley Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Tom Cici officiating. There will be no public visitation.

 

Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
