Merle Arlene Cowin

Merle Arlene Cowin, 90, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 9, 2026, while in Hospice Care. She was born on November 3, 1935 in New Castle, Indiana. Merle lived a life full of adventure and simplicity and joy. She loved camping, fishing, traveling and she embraced the outdoors with a spirit that inspired everyone around her. Her warmth, resilience and quiet strength were constant in the lives of those who knew her. She especially her time with her family, who brought her endless peace and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dale Cowin.

Merle is survived by her children, Peggy Hayden of Indiana, Anita (Niles) Wickes of Indiana, Cyndi Ekberg, Patricia Cowin, Lynn (Garland) Ricks and Robert Darrell Cowin all of Ocala, Florida.

She was blessed with a large and loving family, including several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply.

Friends may call at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City, Indiana on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 11AM until the start of the funeral service at 12:30PM. Following the funeral she will be laid to rest at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin, Indiana.
