Mary E. (Byrum) Poole

Mary E. Poole, 95, of Pershing, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Majestic Care of Connersville. She was born on October 15, 1927 in Westport, Indiana to John W. and Eva (Black) Byrum. She married her husband, Paul E. Poole in Columbus, Indiana and a couple of years later they moved to Pershing. Mary was a member of Pershing United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She worked for several casket companies as a seamstress and retired from Paul Casket after over 30 years. Mary was very active at the Western Wayne Senior Center delivering Meals on Wheels for over 20 years and she enjoyed going on many of the group bus trips. As an avid quilter, her skills were very well known and her quilts were included in many local shows.

Mary is survived by her three children – Steven (Delia) Poole, Peggy (Gary) Sawyers and Danny (Christine) Poole; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Paul E. Poole; a great granddaughter, Jennifer Sawyers; her sister, Peggy McGinn and brother, Ray Byrum.

Friends may call from 12 noon until the start of the Funeral service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Interment will follow at Zions Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing, Indiana.
