Mary Kennedy Obituary

Mary Jane Kennedy, age 88, of Cambridge City and formerly of Hackenburg Lake, passed away at home on Monday, July 3, 2017. She was born on March 26, 1929 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Jackson J. and Mary (Mouser) Miller. Mary Jane met her future husband, Phillip Kennedy at a roller rink in Wichita, KS and they married on October 25, 1947. Together they raised a family of six children. In 1952, the family moved from Tennessee to Muncie, IN and in the late 60’s they moved to the lake at Wolcottville, IN. There she began a career in the RV business, first in the office and ultimately as a woodworker in the cabinet shop. She retired from full time work after over 15 years with Starcraft in Goshen, IN. Mary Jane loved having fish fries, playing games – corn hole, bowling and spending time with her family.

 

She is survived by her children – Debbi (Terry) Levitz of Cambridge City, Dana, Richard and Stan Kennedy all of Hackenburg Lake, and Tom (Max Mooneyham) Kennedy of Clayton, NC; 15 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, James Rheinheimer of Brandon, SD.

 

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Philip LeVoy Kennedy in 2003; her daughter, Patti Rheinheimer in 2002 and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Donnelly Kennedy in 2015.

 

A Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Followed by a Celebration of Life from 1 – 3pm at the LaGrange American Legion Post #215.
