Marvin Lee Helmsing of Cambridge City, Indiana, passed away at the age of 77 on October 7th, 2024. He was born on August 17th, 1947 in Richmond, Indiana to Gifford Eugene Helmsing and Wilma Faye (Hancock) Helmsing.
Marvin dedicated over 40 years of his life to working at Visteon (Ford) in Connersville, IN, after working 17 years at Cutshaw's Grocery in Cambridge City. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he often took on extra hours to provide for his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Janet Helmsing of Cambridge City, IN; son Mark Helmsing of Centerville, IN ; daughter Amanda (Robert) Minick of Metamora, IN; brother Larry (Mary) Helmsing of Richmond, IN, brother Mike (Teresa) Helmsing, sister Melissa Helmsing, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Marvin was an avid car enthusiast and hunter. As a member of the Safari Club International, Marvin enjoyed many hunting trips that took him to Wyoming, Canada, Africa, the Arctic Circle, and more. He also had a passion for collecting antiques, a hobby he cherished sharing with his children. Before and after retirement, Marvin spent countless hours tending to his yard, creating one of the most beautiful properties in the Cambridge City area which contains hundreds of different species of daylilies.
Friends may call for Marvin L. Helmsing from 2:00 PM until the start of the funeral service at 5PM on Friday October 11th at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City, IN.
