Marilyn J. Schambers, 92, of Milton, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bentonville on June 28, 1932 to Carl and Viola (Lamberson) Snyder and lived her entire life in this area. Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Milton High School and was quite an athlete, after high school she played for the Richmond Baking Company women’s softball team and later coached her daughters softball teams in Milton. On September 1, 1951 she married Carrol A. Schambers and together they raised a family of five children. Marilyn was a founding member of the In-and-Around Club, enjoyed playing Yahtzee and spending time with her friend, Joanna Gettinger going to diner, movies or visiting. She was a Christian.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Carrol A. Schambers; five children, Ramona (Chuck) Orschell, Mark Schambers, Jenny Dunaway, Becky (Greg) Williams and Jeff (Renee) Schambers; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a nephew, Doug Snyder; a niece, Linda Longnecker and many cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Pauline Snyder.
Friends may call from 5 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 and her funeral service will be at 11 AM on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
