Marilyn Burgess Obituary

Marilyn M. Burgess, age 76,of Hagerstown passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at Reid Hospital and Health Care Services in Richmond.

She was born on January 18, 1933 in New Castle, IN to JB and Elva E. Mason Messer and had lived all her life in the Hagerstown area graduating from Hagerstown High School in 1951.

She was a member of Word of Hope Church in Modoc, IN. She was also involved in many online ministries. She and her husband were honored as unsung heros at New Creations Christian Ministries in Richmond on October 22, 2009.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years on January 27, Charles E. Burgess; four children Cynthia (Rick) Yeager of Cambridge City, Timothy (Paula) Burgess of Pershing, Amanda (Jason) Johnson of Hagerstown and Terri (Ken) Frederick of Richmond; 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters Maxine Manifold of Richmond, Melvin (Susie) Messer of Hagerstown, Richard Maurice (Beverly) Messer of Cambridge City, Marlene (Joe) Bath of Hagerstown, Melva (Ed) Davis of North Carolina and Margie (Ray) Weiser of Hagerstown; one aunt Eileen Manning of Economy; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Linda D. Burgess Fuda and an infant brother James B. Messer.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 15, 2010 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City, IN with Pastors Mark Hardy and Robert Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Hagerstown, IN. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 5 PM until 8 PM.
