Marcella Carter, 95, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Friend's Fellowship in Richmond. She was born on April 17, 1920 in Hiser's Station, IN to Anton and Ruth (Hiser) Arnheiter.
Marcella attended Cambridge City Central School. She married Paul M. Carter, on December 17, 1938. She was a homemaker and with Paul farmed in Brownsville and Liberty until 1977. Marcella was a member of the Union County Historical Society, a Liberty Library board member, a volunteer and served on the volunteer board at Reid Hospital, a member of the Whitewater Valley Artist Association and was a well known painter. She also was a musician, who along with her husband played square dances and at East Haven State Hospital to entertain the patients.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Bruce) Burch of Rushville; 7 grandchildren, Tina Carter, Dawn Carter, Michael Burch, Mark Burch, Rebekah Keasling, Rachel Miller and Sarah Burch; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Paul M. Carter, on May 9, 1998; a son Phillip M. Carter and a brother Malcom Hiser.
Friends may call from 11 am until the start of the service at 12 noon on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with Derek Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
