Mahlon De Whitaker, 68, of Milton, died the morning of October 14, 2023 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Jim and Anna (née Neuman) on March 2, 1955 in Connersville, Indiana. Growing up in Milton, he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1973 and attended IU Bloomington.
Mahlon met the love of his life, Tanya, in 1975 and married her on October 16th or 18th, they could never remember which. After a family tragedy, they had the rare opportunity to overcome adversity and fall in love twice and spend another 22 glorious years together, stronger than ever. After 48 years and three beautiful children and grandchildren, their love, friendship, and dedication to each other only grew and was admired by all.
Mahlon had a very successful sales career at Fisher Brothers Paper Company, earning Salesman of the Year multiple times. Later, he and his wife started their own company, Dimensional Imprinting, specializing in printing services.
He committed his life to his family, friends, and community. Mahlon was a proud Freemason, Past Master of Fort Wayne Lodge 25 and member of Milton Lodge 108. He served as a chairman of the Wilbur Wright Birthplace Society of Millville, Indiana and as an elder, trustee, active parishioner, and janitor at Milton Christian Church. Mahlon loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting. He was a man who had all the dreams and the zest for living life to the fullest. With his magnificent voice and larger than life personality, telling stories was one of his favorite pastimes.
Mahlon is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Tanya, his children, Justin (Halie) Whitaker, Nicole Whitaker, and Katiana (Mark) Charpentier, four grandchildren, brother Walter (Brenda) Whitaker, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dogs. And preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Neuman.
Visitation will from 4 – 7 pm with a Masonic Service at 7 pm on October 27 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City and Funeral services will be at 11am on October 28 at Milton Christian Church. Interment will be at Valley Grove Cemetery in Milton.
