Lowell Munchel Obituary

Lowell E. Munchel, 86, of New Madison, Ohio and formerly of Cambridge City, passed away on Sunday August 25, 2024 at Forest Park in Richmond. He was born on November 4, 1937 in New Paris, Ohio to Lawrence B. and Pauline C.(Bowles) Munchel. Lowell graduated in 1955 from Westmont High School in Hollansburg, Ohio. On September 14, 1963, he married Sandra (Altman) Munchel at St. John’s Catholic Church in New Paris. Lowell was a lifelong farmer in Darke County and retired from Visteon in Connersville. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and now is a member of St. John’s in New Paris. He was a past member of New Madison Kiwanis and Cambridge City Evening Kiwanis and a current member of the Knights of Columbus. Lowell enjoyed being with family and friends, and never knew a stranger, he also enjoyed farming, wood carving and making crafts with Sandy.

 

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandy; daughter, Kelley (Mike) Jones; grandchildren, Kara (Michael) Passafiume, Shade Brubaker, Camren Munchel, Carsen Munchel, Keaton Jones, Matt and Eric Rutherford; great grandchildren, Corey and Gunner Passafiume; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Munchel; sister-in-law, Joyce Munchel; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Brian and Corey Munchel; and his brother, Jim Munchel.

 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday September 14, 2024 at 11 am at St. John’s Catholic Church in New Paris with a Mercy Meal following the Mass. Inurnment will be at Green Mound Cemetery in New Madison, Ohio at a later date.
