Leah L (Morse) Henderson

Leah L. Henderson, 86, of Cambridge City passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville.

She was born on June 14, 1930 in Cambridge City to Chester L. and Sophronia Wickersham Morse and was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School

Leah worked with her husband at the Henderson Store. She was a member of Phi Chi Epsilon Sorority, Cambridge City Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess, a member of the Dorcas Circle, and organized funeral dinners for many families. In her own quiet way, she was a huge support to all her family, the family businesses, and the Church. She loved Cambridge City and lived in and contributed to the community her entire life.

Survivors include her children; Jane (David) Soffe of Bridgwater, England; Candace (Bill) Richardson of Hagerstown; Jeff (Lynda) Henderson and Jerry (Julia) Henderson of Cambridge City; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Leah was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harold “Bud” Henderson on May 2, 1998, her sister Evelyn Worl, 2 brothers, Howard and Bartine Morse and a grandson, Robert Jeffrey Henderson.

Leah's family would like to thank the staff, nurses and caregivers at Ambassador Healthcare for providing special comfort, support and exceptional care in the last year of her life.

Friends may call at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on July 22 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. prior to the funeral services at 12:00 pm. with Danny Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
