Julie Gail Ulerich

Julie Gail Ulerich, née Schmidt, 70, passed away on Thursday August 14, 2025. She was born in Hampton, Iowa on December 4, 1954, to the late Ewald and Doris (Nolte) Schmidt. Even though half of her life was lived in Indiana, her heart was always back home in Iowa.

On May 1, 1982, Julie married the late William (Bill) P. Ulerich of Cambridge City, Indiana. They were married in Julie’s hometown of Hampton, Iowa. In their early years together, the couple moved several times before settling down in Omaha, Nebraska as a young family of four. In 1993, Julie, Bill, and their two children left Omaha for Columbus, Indiana, where she lived ever since. Julie spent most of her professional life working as a receptionist for a Columbus-area accounting firm. During her early years, she enjoyed traveling, recreational golf and bowling. In her final years, more than anything else, she valued visiting with her loved ones. She treasured the time she was given with her sisters, her son, her daughter, and her four grandchildren. She will be missed greatly and remembered for her beautiful smile, strong work ethic, and love for her family.

Julie is survived by her son, Craig (Ondréa) of Talent, OR; daughter Stephanie Roberts (Josh) of Hope, IN; grandchildren, Isaiah and Abigail Ulerich of Talent, OR, Madison and Jenson Roberts of Hope, IN; sisters Nancy (Dean) Schroeder of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Connie (Lee) Rule of Washburn, Iowa; and niece Sarah Schroeder of Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, of 38 years.

Services will be Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City, IN. Visitation will be held at 11:00am with the funeral immediately following at 12:00pm.
