Judith “Judy” Catherine Seifert passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Reid Hospital following a brief illness.
Judy was born January 15, 1942 to Raymond Hamilton Hoth and Angela Catherine Hoth in Waverly, Iowa. Judy was 1 of three children, growing up with 2 older brothers.
Judy attended Waverly High School and after graduation attended Iowa State Teachers College.
Judy married Gerald Carl Seifert on July 23, 1966. They were married nearly 56 years before Jerry’s passing in 2022.
Jerry and Judy lived many places throughout their 56 years of marriage. They often spoke of their favorites being Minot, ND and Mendota, IL. The friendships they made in Mendota have truly lasted a lifetime.
Upon moving to Indiana in 1986 Judy began a nearly 17 year career as a District Manager for Speedway stores. Prior to joining speedway, Judy also worked in the quality control lab at Del Monte, ran an in home daycare and raised her three children.
Judy loved to travel. Visiting Las Vegas as often as she could as well as casinos located here in the Midwest. Judy and Jerry also spent lots of time visiting their three girls in various states across the country. Trips to Florida, Colorado, South Carolina and Michigan were often, even before retirement.
Some of Judy’s fondest memories and happiest times were spent serving the churches in which her and Jerry were members, attending weekly bible and book studies, and playing cards with friends and family. Judy was a card shark and was often the victor in their fun household poker tournaments.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother (Dick Hoth), several aunts and uncles and some very special friends.
She was the secretary at Faith United Lutheran Church in Richmond and attended Peace Lutheran Church in Connersville.
Judy is survived by her three daughters: Anne Seifert, Robin Seifert and Stephanie Murray (Jason); three grandchildren Alexander Leadbeter, and Adrianne and Kailynn Murray; her brother Don Hoth; several nieces and nephews on both the Hoth and Seifert sides of the family and many wonderful friends.
Judy’s legacy and how she will be remembered most is in the way she served Jesus, always put others before herself and her pure honesty and her quick wit. She was a free spirit who loved to share her thoughts and jokes, even if they weren’t everyone’s cup of tea. She was the epitome of honesty and trustworthiness.
All services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church. 701 West Third Street Connersville, IN 47331. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday March 3, 2025 with the funeral service immediately following.
