Joseph Bath, 78, of Hagerstown passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Reid Hospital.
He was born on January 22, 1934 in New Castle, IN to Joseph R. Bath and Leona G. McDowell and lived most of his life in this area.
Joe was a veteran, who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a Navy Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He graduated from New Castle H.S. and then graduated from Ball State with both a BS and MA degrees in Education. Joe worked as a machinist for Perfect Circle/Dana for over 30 years and retired in 1993. He was a member of American Legion Post #333 and was affiliated with the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene. Joe spent many hours hunting & fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marlene (Messer) Bath; 2 daughters, Jo Anne Miers May and her husband, Chad and Suzanne Cook Keihn and her husband, Jeff; 6 grandchildren, Anthony Bath, Brack Miers, Mark A. Miers, Blake Miers, Adyn Cook Bath and Arianna Cook; 4 great-grandchildren, Jacob Richards, Victor Bath, Lillian Grace Miers and Izaac Miers; nieces, nephews and cousins. A special “Thank You” goes out to many special family & friends who have helped with Joe's care over the last 8 years.
Friends may call at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 4 until 7 pm and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Hagerstown.
