John Harrison Paul, 98, of New Lisbon, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation in New Castle.
He was born on February 22, 1920 in New Lisbon to Alpha and Alma Harris Paul and had lived all his life in the area. He was a 1938 graduate of New Lisbon High School and served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force as a Sargent. He was a member of New Lisbon Christian Church, a charter member of New Lisbon Lions, Leroy Tout American Legion Post, New Lisbon Fire Department where he served as Chief for 30 years and had been a special deputy for the Henry County Sheriff Department.
Survivors include a son, Gary (Beverly) Paul; 2 grandchildren, Randy (Julie) Paul and Lisa (Doug) Hall; 5 great-grandchildren, Joella, Emily, Courtney, Sarah and Megan; 4 great-great-grandchildren Simon, Jude, Madelyn and Nicholas; 3 step-children,; 7 step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 3 wives, Ellen, Rosemary and Mary Maxine; 3 sisters, Ruth Query, Mary Thomas and Betty Lakes; and a brother, Harold “Buster” Paul.
Friends may gather at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 10:00 am until start of services at 12:00 noon. Pastor Mark Lomison will be officiating. Burial will be in Williamsburg Cemetery in Williamsburg where there will be military honors by Leroy Tout and Lawrence Bertsch American Legion Posts.
