Jackie Smith Obituary

Jackie L. Smith, said “I’m tired” and laid down his hammer on April 11, 2025. He was born in the family home in Cambridge City on June 14, 1938 to Gail & Martha (Rudisell) Smith. Jack was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School. He always had a passion for cars, hot rods and drag racing; and was a founding member of The Fuel Injectors & Cams Car Clubs. Later in life he got to help his son Tony with his drag racing and even rebuilt his drag car from the 60’s to drive around town on nice days.

Jack was a general contractor/carpenter. He was an excellent craftsman for 55 years, building many houses in the area and also remodeling and repairing many more.

On June 18, 1961 he married the love of his life, Cindy (Teller) Smith and together they had one son, Tony. He helped Cindy with her candy shop throughout her life and honored her memory by continuing to operate it until 2019.

Jack is survived by his son, Tony (Teresa Eades) Smith; grandchildren, Zane and Zoie Schrader; a niece, Teresa Boike; a nephew, J Teller; and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy on June 11, 2001; and his step-father, Irwin “Nick” Nicholson.

He will be missed by many who knew him, especially his brother-in-law, Allen Teller, who called every week for a chat; his friend, Melvin Moistner; and his cats that kept him company.

His family are thankful to his caregivers, Lori, Rhonda and Vanessa.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 14, 2025 at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
