Gerald (Jerry) Carl Seifert of Cambridge City, IN passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 16, 2022, after a year long battle with cancer. He was born on February 17, 1936 to Carl George Seifert and Evelyn Selma Pottratz-Seifert in Beloit, WI.
Jerry married Judith Catherine Hoth on July 23, 1966.
Jerry graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and Wartburg College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1955 and spent 4 years on active duty and 10 additional years in the Naval Reserves. He taught Middle School science for 3 years, he was a Nursing Home Administrator for 30 years and then spent 7 years working for the State of Indiana as a Life Safety Code Surveyor. Jerry also served as a Lay Worship Leader and Deacon in many Lutheran churches throughout the years. He and Judy attended Peace Lutheran Church in Connersville, IN.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy of Cambridge City, IN; three daughters, Anne Catherine Seifert of Huntley, IL, Robin Christine Seifert of Noblesville, IN and Stephanie Danielle Murray (Jason) of Greenwood, IN; three grandchildren, Alexander John Leadbeter of Chicago, IL, Adrianne Nicole and Kailynn Danielle Murray of Greenwood, IN; his youngest brother, David (Sandy) Seifert of Beloit, WI and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Seifert.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until the start of services at 1 PM at Peace Lutheran Church, 701 West 3rd St., Connersville, IN on Thursday, May 19, 2022 with Pastor Norman Dew presiding. Jerry will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, OH on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 9 AM.
