Donald Willmann, 80, of Straughn, Indiana passed away the morning of October 16, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Hartford City to Joseph and Grace (Cox) Willmann. He attended Dunkirk Elementary School and Yorktown Junior/Senior High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy with deployment on the USS Shasta. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked at and retired from Westinghouse/ABB Muncie. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard, Indy car racing, and rooting for Purdue Basketball. On weekends, he could be found at rummage sales searching for McDonalds toys to add to his collection.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Gregg Willmann.
He is survived by his loving wife LaDonna (Surber). Together, they have two daughters: Lisa Mayer (New Jersey) and Denise Smith (Dublin). They enjoyed attending the sporting events and musical concerts of their seven grandchildren: Nicole, Bryan (wife Kait), Tyler, Lauren, Alex, Bryce, and Blake. He also had the honor of spoiling two great-granddaughters: Tessa and Mary Cate.
Other special family members include two sisters-in-law (Cynthia and Mary-Jo), a niece (Wendy), and three nephews (Brent, Kevin, and Jeremy); several great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be missed by his beloved dog, Coco. Don is also a 35-year friend of Bill W.
Services will be at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Friends and family may call Wednesday, October 18th 4pm-8pm and Thursday, October 19th 10am-11am. Services are Thursday, October 19th at 11am with interment to follow at Glen Cove Cemetery Knightstown.
