David E. Clements, 86, of Cambridge City, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
He was born on July 7, 1937 in Brooksburg, Indiana to Rev. Halden H. and Evalena (Smith) Clements.
David grew up near Bloomington, Indiana and graduated from Smithville High School in 1955, after graduation he went to Indiana University and received his Bachelor's degree in Education in 1959 and later received his Master's degree. David married Janet S. O’Neal on August 28,1959 and they soon moved to Cambridge City, where he started teaching at Lincoln High School. He taught Government and Social studies for 41years, was the yearbook adviser for many years and even taught his students to develop their pictures in the school's darkroom. David enjoyed photography, woodworking, hiking and singing. He was an active member of Milton and Cambridge City Methodist churches and sang in several church quartets.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet; daughter Tamra (Steve) Clements; grandchildren, Kathryn (Tyler) Bebout and Chase (Jessica) Anderson; 5 great-grandsons.
Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday, September 11, 2023 and from 10:30 until the start of the funeral at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City, with Rev. Brent O’Neal and Rev. Mike Haskett officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
