David L Bertsch

David L. Bertsch, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Reid Hospital in the presence of his family. He was born on January 28, 1940 in New Castle, IN to Arthur and Mildred (Rambo) Bertsch and lived his entire life in this area. David graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. He was a farmer all his life, but also worked as a foreman at MEG for 42 years and was a seed salesman for Golden Harvest. David was a member of the Hagerstown Young Farmers for over 60 years, loved playing Euchre in the Senior Center Card Club an was an avid golfer. He is a member of Jacksonburg Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Paula A. (Pumphrey) Bertsch; a daughter, Melanie Bertsch; two step-sons, Daniel (Minhong) Pumphrey and Bill Pumphrey; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill Bertsch; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Alta in 2002; his son Kent in 2021 and his step-father, Russell Manlove.

Friends may call from 4PM until 7PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024 and his funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11 AM at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Burial will follow at Jacksonburg Cemetery.
