Connie J. (Matney) Smith

Connie J. Smith, 73, of Cambridge City passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 10, 1941 in New Castle, IN to Wayne and Thelma Parker Matney and had lived all her life in the Cambridge City area.

Connie was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School. She had worked for the town of Cambridge City for 47 years, the last 31 years serving as Clerk Treasurer before retiring in 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Christina (Tim) Bohlander and Pamela (Jay) Jessop; two grandchildren Lindsay and Spencer (fiancee' Jennifer Hardyiec) Bohlander; 3 sisters Shirley Weesner, Judy (Kenny) Cate, Linda Alexander and her twin brother, Ronnie (Teddy) Matney; nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver and dear friend, Lynn Adams.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ronald D. “Frog” Smith.

Friends may gather at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2:00 pm until start of services at 6:00pm. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Gordon Mehaffey and Dr. Richard Amick will be officiating.
