Betty Jane (Nichols) Gilbert

Betty J. Gilbert, 92, of Cambridge City passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Reid Health in Richmond.

She was born on January 5, 1924 in Tarkio, MO to Carl and Celia Haynes Nichols.

After graduation from New Castle High School Betty worked for 34 years in Human Resources and Accounting at Meg Corporation and was a volunteer for 25 years in Human Resources at Reid Hospital. She avidly enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include 2 sons Jerry M. (Julia) Gilbert and James J. (Lisa) Gilbert; 4 grandchildren; Corey (Jodi Reeder) Gilbert, Jill (Robert) Payne, Derika (Ryan) Wampler and Matthew (Lindsay) Gilbert; 8 great-grandchildren; sister Vivian Hoff; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Donald L. “Punk” Gilbert; her parents; and 4 siblings.

Friends may gather at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family and conducted by Danny Barry.
