Amos Bertsch Obituary

Amos E. Bertsch, 90, of Cambridge City passed away on February, 7, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.

 

He was born on June 17, 1926 in Richmond, IN to Clinton O. and Mary Pearl Simpkins Bertsch and was a 1944 graduate of Milton High School. After graduation he served 2 years in the United States Navy serving during WWII on the USS Sheridan and recently participated in Honor Flight. After service he returned to Wayne County, IN and had worked at Perfect Circle, and was a lifetime farmer.

 

Amos was a member of Wayne County Soil Conservation for 12 years, the Propbusters R.C. Club in Richmond, Home Circle, Eastern Indiana Snowmobile Club, American Legion Post #169, on the Washington Township Board and was on the Board of Farmers Grain.. He was also a lifelong member of Zion's Lutheran Church in Pershing.

 

Survivors include his companion, Mabel Longnecker; children, Terry G. (Jane) Bertsch, Becki (Rick H.) Davis, Kenny A. (Delaina) Bertsch and Charles C. (Traci) Bertsch: grandchildren, Star, Kara (Christine), A.J., Lloyd, Jeff (Wendy), Jeremy, Laurissa (Paul), Brandon (Jodi), Alizabeth, Shelby and Chase ; great-grandchildren Max, Jack, Tru, Riley, Preston, Kollin, Karson, Gavin, Jada, Ava, Sophie, Owen, Carter; nieces, nephews; sisters-in-law, Mid Jurgens and Dorothy Sharp.

 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Ravencraft Bertsch whom he married on April 16, 1948 ; brothers Maynard, Ralph, Arthur, Ray, Donald (Jiggs) and Arville (Mike) Bertsch and sisters Mary Martha Miller and Margaret Day.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Zion's Lutheran Church in Pershing with Rev. Jerry Mielke and Rev. Dr. Clarke E. Hobby officiating. Burial will follow in Zion's Lutheran Cemetery where there will be military graveside services. Friends may call at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Friday, February, 10, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
