Alice Lucile Matney, 98, of Cambridge City passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her residence.
She was born in New Castle, IN on November 21, 1919 to George Dildine and Mable Lee Hartman Faucett and was a 1937 graduate of Spiceland High School. She had lived most of her life in the Wayne County Area.
She was a member of Jacksonburg Christian Church and Ladies Aid, and Harrison Township Extension Homemakers Club. Her hobbies were painting pictures of covered bridges, landscapes, flowers and trees. She enjoyed helping and spending time with her family, and tending to her garden and flowers.
Survivors include her son James (Linda) Matney; daughters Joyce (Dave) Wilson and Shirley (Jack) Wiedenman; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Ray O. Frost; and nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, of 45 years, Roscoe Matney in 1984; and a granddaughter.
Friends may call from 12:00 noon until start of services at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with Stan Eastman officiating. Burial will follow in Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
