Elnora Emma McConnell, 90, went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2012 at Edgewater Retirement community in West Des Moines, IA. She was born April 30, 1922 in Milton, Indiana to Charles and Zella (Petty) Marlatt. Elnora grew up on a farm east of Milton and graduated from Milton High School and Richmond Business College. She worked at Johns Manville and at a war plant in Connersville during the war.
After World War II, Elnora was united in marriage to Robert A McConnell. The couple was blessed with two children, Marc and Marla. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Des Moine, IA.
Survivors include her children, Marc McConnell and Marla Quenzer; a foster daughter, Bonnie Jo LaFeir; a sister Clara Marlatt Sowers; brothers, Carl Marlatt and Forrest Marlatt; grandchildren, John Quenzer, Swarah (Quenzer) Kornmann, Heidi Quenzer and Natalie Quenzer and great-grandchildren, Alex and Ali Kornmann. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, robert and brother, Edgar Marlatt.
A Memorial service for Elnora will be at Zion's Lutheran Church in East Germantown (Pershing), IN on Saturday July 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Clarke E. Hobby officiating. Burial will be in Zion's Lutheran Cemetery.
